I woke up to the low buzz of the electric fan beside me. Light was already filling through the lone window of my small, beaten apartment. I would’ve woken a little later if not for the grumbling of my stomach. I rubbed my tired eyes and pushed myself out of the bed.

I walked over the makeshift kitchen and opened the second hand fridge, empty. It felt so lonely and discouraging. I grabbed the half-full carton of milk and chugged it down. The carton of milk that magically appear at my doorstep once in awhile. Sometimes it was a bread or if lucky, fruits.

I walked over my bed and sat down, throwing my empty carton across the room. It missed the trashcan but who even cares? I laid on my back and stared at the ceiling. The discolored paint and peeling latex make up a constellation that only I can name. Thoughts and memories drown me as I continue to drift to it’s far shore.
