So recently there’s been a lot of talk about Marvel’s series “IronHeart”. For those not in the know IronHeart is a young African American girl named Riri Williams who is this genius prodigy/engineer who steals one of Iron Man’s suits and some equipment from MIT to make her own iron man suit. No I’m not glazing over anything that’s literally in her comic book origin story. There’s even a part of her origin story where she actually wants her white teacher to be racist to motivate her. Riri was lowkey expecting her teacher to say “She could never be like Tony Stark” as a means to motivate her but naw the teacher was like “why would I tell you that you can’t be successful?” Like this old white lady was legit confused as to why Riri wanted her to put her down for wanting to be something. Off the rip Riri comes off as unlikable and wanting a struggle for the sake of wanting a struggle. My girl you’re going to MIT and you’re basically a genius in your universe why do you want struggle?

So a few things I’m questioning, 1. What makes Disney/Marvel think this’ll be a good idea seeing as her comics didn’t do good. 2. Disney hasn’t exactly had a good track record with introducing new Marvel characters that people aren’t familiar with. Believe it or not this won’t be Riri’s first live action appearance, she was actually a minor character in “Black Panther : Wakanda Forever”. Yea a lot of people don’t realize it but yea she was there and yea either no one realized or no one cared. You know you’re pretty irrelevant when the pronunciation of Namor’s name in the movie has more discussion than you actually being in it.

Now some comic book fans might bring up “well Miles Morales comics didn’t do too good either but the Spider-Verse movies were great and well received.” To that I say yes they’re absolutely right, as a character Miles was received well and the movies basically got him over. Here’s the thing though while yes people were originally indifferent towards Miles as a character they still liked the idea of a black Spider-Man in general. Another example is Falcon who later became Captain America, originally people were pretty cold to the idea of Steve Rogers being replaced by Sam Wilson but eventually they gradually accepted him mainly Sam was already established in previous movies and is generally likable.

Can this be the case for IronHeart where she warms up to fans? Maybe but given the track record of other recent marvel projects with lead females like She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and Jane Foster along with how poorly she’s been written in her comic book appearances it’s not looking too good for her. Personally if were to get a new IronMan like character project I would want something with War Machine, Rhodey is extremely over with Marvel and would be a perfect fit to take IronMan’s place seeing as Tony is dead in the MCU. Instead of being called War Machine he needs his name to be Iron Patriot, it’s more Badass.
Anyways do y’all think IronHeart will be successful?

If She was the succédant of iron man, in a story where iron man/tony stark is too old to be a superhero so he the armor to a younger person that he chosen to be his succedant…
But i don’t like the fact that She has the armor if iron man because She stole it
