I have been a Christopagan for about 8 years now and it never occurred to me how much I use the elements in my practice until I ed this Amino back in January. Now thanks to this #TeamTrials competition I’ve been able to look even closer to how the elements have shaped my journey, specifically air.
I was raised Catholic so I have a deep and personal connection with the angels and saints. What’s the difference between the angels and saints? Well an angel as described in the Bible is a heavenly being and a messenger of God. A Saint is a human being who lived a life in holy obedience to God’s will. Today I will talk about two angels and two saints that I have had a personal connection with.

🕊 🌬 🕊 THE SAINTS 🕊 🌬 🕊
~~Saint Cecilia~~
This first Saint is very near and dear to my heart. Saint Cecilia is the patron saint of music. I am a professional classical vocalist. During my vocal training I did extensive study on the breath cycle and how to properly the air to get the vocal tone I wanted. I would go into detail about that, but that is a post for another day. I would pray to Saint Cecilia before every audition and every perform to give me the strength and endurance I need to be as successful as possible.
Even though Saint Cecilia was a real person who was martyred, her story does not have historical accuracy. It was said that despite being a devout celibate, her parents forced Cecilia to marry a Pagan. During her wedding it is said she sat apart from him and sang to God in her heart. She informed her new husband that if he allowed her to remain celibate, he would be loved by the angels of God.
Patronage: musicians, hymns, pipe organs, poets
Feast Day: November 22
Attributes: flute, organ, roses, violin, harp, harpsichord, singing

~~ Saint Joseph of Cupertino~~
I have a very close friend who’s husband is a commercial airline pilot. He flies all across the country and spends a lot of time away from his family. I’ve known this friend since high school and we’ve spent time together praying for her husband’s safe travels. She always includes a prayer to Saint Joseph of Cupertino, the patron saint of pilots.
Saint Joseph was an Italian Franciscan friar who lived an extraordinary life. From the time he was a young boy he would have visions and enter into a state of ecstasy. As an adult these during these states he would begin levitating and there were over seventy eyewitness s of this happening when he was saying Mass.
Patronage: pilots, air travelers, astronauts
Feast Day: September 18
Attributes: levitation

🕊 🌬 🕊 THE ANGELS 🕊 🌬 🕊
When we think of angels we think of a human-like being with wings. We picturing them flying through the air as they do God’s bidding. It is said that they have four wings on their backs instead of the two that we always imagine. Every time an angel appears to someone in the Bible they always begin the conversation with “do not be afraid.” That has always made me wonder if perhaps they’re not the cute little cherubs that Raphael envisioned in his iconic painting. What if they look terrifying?
Below I have shared with you my personal experience with angels.
~~Guardian Angel~~
A guardian angel is an angel that is assigned to a single person or group of people. Growing up I learned that they were also there to shape your conscience when you are a child. I when I was little I would be playing in my room and I’d hear what I thought was my mom calling my name, “Willow”! Sometimes I’d hear it more than once. I would always drop what I was doing and run to see why she called. “I didn’t call you. Maybe it was your guardian angel,” she would say. I would always wonder why my angel was calling me, but I always thought it was the coolest thing. It made me feel protected and loved.
For a long time I thought you only had a guardian angel as a child, then when you became an adult, that angel was assigned to another child. I think it’s because I would always see the iconic pictures of an angel watching over children. As I grew up I began to realize I was wrong. As I became an adult I learned to call on an angel that I believed was assigned to me to begin with. That angel is Archangel Michael.

~~Archangel Michael~~
Archangel Michael is the leader of all angels and of the army of God. There isn’t much known about Michael amongst theologians except that his main responsibility is to combat Satan. He is the one who defeated and removed Satan from heaven when Satan rebelled against God. His other duties include being a champion of Christians, being present at the hour of one’s death, and to be the guard of heaven.
Michael has helped me through more difficulties than I can count. Whenever I feel afraid or unsafe I’ll ask him to escort me and protect me. He has become such a protector that I have an altar dedicated to him. He is by far my favorite angel because I feel like he’s always there when I need him.
