Hi all!

I trust all is well for the moment.

I received a sudden spark of curiosity: have you, on your individual path, been discriminated against by family, peers or in work settings?

This is a sensitive subject for some, no doubt, so if you don’t wish to elaborate on what occurred or vote at all, that’s perfectly okay. We all heal with time.

Personally, I have faced direct discrimination and isolation in a school setting, which forced me to leave the school because it was affecting my mental health and ability to do certain assignments like group projects etc. I came out as a Witch because I thought I was in an understanding environment. Unfortunately, I was not.

Even though most of us follow minor paths, traditional practices and the like, there’s no excuse for ignorance and disrespect of ANY religious path. You don’t have to like something, but that doesn’t mean you get to be rude to the people who are involved with it. Let’s keep that in our hearts and move forward with peace and love.

Blessed Be,

Valerie ~ :gift_heart:

Im sorry about what happened to you at school. It’s such a shame we’re made to hide ourselves.

Personally, I’ve never been discriminated against, but that’s only because I rarely speak on this with people at all in fear of it, in fear of how they may think of my intelligence and judgement despite the fact it’s absolutely none of their business to do so. I wish we were able to be more outspoken, and I applaud those who are, but alas, that’s a privilege not everyone has.

Unfortunately, i think regardless of paths, religion or even lack-there-of there will always be some type of discrimination.

Everyone is opinionated and in the topic of faith, everyone approaches it differently. Depending where they were born can shape their opinions too.

Its honestly sad because its such a pointless thing to debate or even argue over because it goes nowhere. Everyone believes they are right and they honestly have the right to believe so. Thats why i think these topics are -personal-

You can share it if you want to but you’ll need to be prepared to face these challenges beforehand. Not everyone will understand and some people do, how they react is more telling of their character than of your beliefs itself.

In my pov, i wouldn’t tell people intimate things about my health, love life or even plans. Religion/ practice is no different to me. Especially if i feel like it could put me in difficult situations and If there’s anything that i wish more people understood it’s that more and more people understand that religion and magical practices are for -you-, not the world.

Honestly I just don’t come out as a witch anymore. Spiritual, yes. I’ll happily chat about crystals, manifestation, meditation, and the like in comfortable spaces. Labelling myself a witch? It’s just not understood.

My partner knows I’m spiritual. He knows I have a bookcase of witchcraft guides, a cauldron, and an altar. I’ve never told him ‘I’m a witch, I practice witchcraft’ but I think he gets it. He’s never had an issue.

People just get funny about it. They insult your intelligence, assume you’re crazy, or evil. At the end of the day, it’s a topic and practice which requires dedicated study and most people don’t even think it’s something that can be real so it all comes from a place of misunderstanding and fear, and I don’t need anybody else involved in my practice anyway :)
