Look! They don't start with 'N' this time!

I don't blame anyone for not recognizing these two as they are vastly overshadowed by their sister. But they deserve some screen time two imo.

Who are Sthenno and Euryale?

~ They are best known as Medusas sisters. They are the only other two Gorgons in Greek myth that I could find with names attached ~

~ Gorgons in myth have two main depictions. The older one where they are looked like ugly, winged, tusked, snake-haired women with bādåss nails, and the newer one depicting them as monstrous (not exactly always ugly) snake-haired and most times tailed women ~

~ Medusa was both the youngest of the three and also the only mortal

In Myth

~ To skip straight to Sthenno and Euryale go to 5: 18 in the vid. However, it really is a good summary despite the unoriginal anti-feminist joke he makes at the beginning, so I recommend you watch it through ~

More info.

~ They are depicted as completely loyal to their sister and even was thought to have gone after Perseus to avenge her ~

~ Stheno is thought to have a higher kill count than Medusa due to her aggressive nature ~

~ Euryale is rumoured to have venomous snakes for hair and is the middle sibling ~

Why are they Fav.s

~ They are a perfect example of the distortion of myths threw our need to both romanticize and demonize mythological figures ~

~ I find the contrasting versions of Medusas story fascinating ~

~ I mentioned in other posts that sibling love hits home for me and their loyalty to Medusa is amazing ~

~ I like both concepts of a Gorgon (and snakes). I am honestly obsessed with the more modern one though and have even made an OC Gorgon named Margot ~

~ I love the art, it's A+ ~

**If you are interested in a modern retelling then here you go, the graphic strip below is from it**

Not to detract but when I think of the Gorgons it reminds me of the Feri Goddess Nimue. She has snakes for hair as well. Just thought I'd share
