Disc. Contest Entry

I’m in a Fakémon Discord server and in honor of pride month’s arrival, they hosted a contest where the prompt was:

”Design an androgynous trainer and a genderless Fakémon to be their ace!”

And I jived with that heavy so I did :fire: :fire: thought i’d post them here too, so here’s Soleil and their ace Amorphink! + a pre-evolution, Blit.

I liked the idea of using something like ink to represent the potential that gender can have for fluidity, + ink being something used to create as a nod to how people tend to ‘recreate’ themselves in the process of learning more about their identities.

Blit [derived from ‘Blot’] exists in two forms to parallel the idea that often when we’re born a certain way, we may have a set of roles assigned to us, which is something researchers had also mistakenly attributed to this Pokémon before realizing its capacity for all sorts of different behaviors, as mentioned in their dex entry.

Amorphink [derived from ‘Amorphous + ‘Ink’] represents the growth that often comes as we get older and how the way we present ourselves and our identities can change constantly.

And here are just a bunch of potential different looks for Amorphink. Both their head shape and their glass bodies can vary. Im a sucker for Pokémon with a bunch of variations (like Alcremie or Furfrou) and I figured it’d suit them.

Soleil is a tattoo artist! His team consists of two Blit, one of each form, and an Amorphink he sends out last. You’d battle him in his tattoo parlor, between clients after he decides he needs a refresher, and receive an item if you win. Something small like a potion or a pokéball.

I like to think if you came back to battle him again, his Amorphink would look different every time.
