Mephisto Walz are an American goth rock band/deathrock band that formed in 1985. Mephisto Walz was formed by Barry Galvin (aka Bari-Bari) and John Schuman (Johann), following their departure from the influential deathrock band Christian Death.

One of the pioneers of deathrock alongside Rozz, this classic 80s deathrock band experimented a lot over their career. It also started off with a male vocalist named Jörge but eventually brought in a female singer named Christianna to replace Jörge so the band didn’t sound like Rozz’s vocals as much.

Their discography spans over almost three decades. Goth has many subgenres in itself, which many were tried by Mephisto Walz from their lighter goth to heavier deathrock.
