— What's your name/name? Does this name have any special meaning to you? —

My online Moniker is Umbrestride. I've had only two monikers in the past. This one happens to be the name of my main character, who has sort of led the charge in the second half of my online life as a role player, role play host, and artist.

 

— What's your roleplaying style? Why do you enjoy roleplaying this way? —

I'm not sure what my role play style is, but I consider myself a rather casual role player, My grammar is fine, my spelling is decent, and the length of my posts are situational.

details and content is nice, as long as my partner isn't sending posts so long that they complete an entire day's worth of actions before my character gets a chance to react to any of them.

the only thing I would probably refuse to role play with is a novella. Your character has to be very very VERY interesting for me to want read three pages about bloaty details, inflated vocabulary, and such an absurd amount of actions that in order to respond to it all, my post would have to be three times as long as yours. That's a lot of work

— How did you find Roleplay Amino? —

Through searching, because of course there was a roleplay community on Amino somewhere. I ed this place for a few seconds and then left, back when I was looking around for my first home.

recently I ed with purpose to sit down roots and move my RPG over here. Our original Community/home was rather niche, not fueled by any real fandom/Media, and destined to die. So I jumped ship and hope to settle down here

— Are your OCs original, or are they based on a fandom? If you don't use OCs, do you only roleplay characters from a fandom? —

I strictly role play original characters. Actual original characters. I've noticed that many people here consider fan characters to be original characters, which I do find a little disorienting.

fan characters should not be discredited or held below original characters, but I DO think the distinction is relevant. A true OC is a much more impressive thing for me, especially if the world the creator has built around them is thoughtful, colorful, and detailed.

not to say that mine are at that level just yet, but even so, I would still prefer for my partners to be working with that same burden, rather than having a pre-made world(or borrowed faceclaim even) to go off of. Feels more special to me..

— Are you an editor, artist, or neither? If you are, show us your edits/art! —

I make stylized art and enjoy lots of color, shiny lighting, and fantasy elements.

  

— What are your hobbies outside of Amino? What do you enjoy doing? —

I'm a pretty boring individual. Other than working on my assigned tasks, what I could consider my hobbies all tie back to Amino in some way. This is the only place where I post my characters, and anything I write is for them. I do very low level scripting and coding, but that's for my rpg, also hosted here.

I used to be into body building(and to an extent, Surgical bodysculpting. never participated though). I did not compete or anything of that sort, it was more so for fun. I'm still somewhat interested but I no longer participate.

— Give us one word that describes you entirely! —

— Do you prefer to roleplay in groups or 1×1? Or perhaps you enjoy both? —

I prefer groups. I am not a very social person, and it's much easier to let other people in a group role play pick up the social slack. Make the jokes, chat with your partner, divide interactions. I don't often enjoy the one-on-one experience.

— Do you indulge in poetry? Have you ever written or wanted to write poems? If you're comfortable, you should show us! —

when I first started ing art, I used to include thoughtful little pieces of poetry or otherwise elegant writing that summarize the character's thoughts, and added context to the art

but I am not a writer by trade, and after I had my fun with it, I resorted to not so Artful summaries, and straight to the point kind of stuff. I haven't Revisited The Poetry angle since

— Is there anything we may have missed? If so, please tell us more about yourself! —

●I am functionally mute. Speaking doesn't come naturally to me. Trying is exhausting and getting it fixed is not a priority for my caretakers. Right now, it's not a priority for me either. I've lived with it this long. no VC with strangers

●I've got issues with General empathy. I tend to get rather defensive and cold if I feel as if I'm being pushed to care, comfort, or understand someone's pain. I must put active effort into tons of social things that come effortlessly to others, and in general it's exhausting.

● I am socially decent ide like to think, but prolonged Socializing tends to show the cracks in my foundation: I can tell because people start getting upset with me, or let me know further down the line that I've been some sort of asshole. I'm sometimes rough around the edges, but it's never my intention to Target and hurt people.
