Finishing an old drawing

At least two years ago, I made this drawing:

I never finished it.

If you wanna know why, it’s because I got insanely frustrated after realising I drew it on the cover of my sketchbook, not one of the pages, and all my alcohol markers bled through lol

So today, I’m gonna do my best to finish it up. At the time of writing, I have no idea how this will go, but if it looks awful I probably won’t post this blog lmao

i aim to:

• Add depth to the drawing

• Add a non-complex background

I don’t like the face and hair, but I will not be touching those in this finishing. My intent isn’t to fix it, more to make it something I can feel proud of

I picked a drawing I very nearly finished for this, but let me know if I should find something more challenging if I do this again

Half way update

~30 minutes

With a black background and a single focus point, I think it looks pretty good. I’m gonna need to smooth out the pen, singe the ink is kinda patchy, but I like it a lot

I’ve already added some highlights with white paint based off the new spotlight, and I’ve started adding depth to the marker base with coloured pencils. I’ve never really done this before, so we’ll see how it goes.

I’m actually pretty happy with this drawing now. I still don’t like the proportions and suchlike, but I’ve changed it from an accident that stressed me out to being a completely finished piece that I don’t have to worry about catching a glimpse of when I open this sketchbook
