what's your favorite book and why?

I'll go first of course haha- this is an incredibly difficult question. Buuut, as of this moment, it'll have to be Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. Not just the book but the entire series! It's a completed one, and while I keep finding more content for it here and there, it's wrapped up just.. good enough. Like I am satisfied with it's ending despite the fact I could easily read more without an issue either haha.

It's a little sci-fi fantasy series following our main girl, Spensa, who dreams of being a pilot like her dad. She's a human, though humans no longer live on earth now, instead they are trapped on a planet under near constant attack from aliens. Pilots are basically the military on this planet, and being in an ongoing war just to live on this planet, pilots are kiiiind of a big deal.

This series sort of follows her story as a pilot, discovering herself and the world and the stars. It's so much fun and an absolute rollercoaster. Hiiighly reccomend haha.

what about you?

Right now I'm reading something called The Naming by Alison Croggan and it's really good. It's a Fantasy series. What I love is she goes into the right amount of detail without over/under explaining things and the characters are witty. I'm not super far into the book yet, but I already like it. It is a series of five books I think... Maybe four.

I’ll have to check out that series! It’s been a long time since I last read a good sci-fi.

Right now, my favorite book series is the Mercy Thompson books by Patricia Briggs. The first book is called Moon Called. At first, it seems like a typical modern fantasy with vampires and werewolves and witches, but after you finish the first book, you realize the world is a bit more complicated than that. The main character, Mercedes (Mercy) Thompson is a skinwalker that transforms into a coyote. Because of unique circumstances, sh was raised by werewolves. She’s a mechanic that works for a Fae (and we never really figure out exactly what he is, but we know he’s ancient and his original name has long been forgotten, and he’s one of the few far that can actually touch iron.) the series follows her journey of self discovery, trying to figure out what exactly she is and her abilities. She goes on big, grand adventures like saving the world, but she also goes on smaller adventures like rescuing her neighbor’s daughter when she was kidnapped. The human world seems to be aware of fae, but not so much other supernatural creatures. Yet. Part of the series deals with the politics of the supernatural world where it meets the human world.

It’s very interesting! The books have been out for a while. Ngl it’s an older series. BUT, the author is still actively writing books in the same universe. I think the last book she wrote for the Mercy Thompson series was the 14th book, and it came out in 2024! So still very active!

I guessss- though I'm the same way. I just hyperfixate on one thing and no one can get me into anything else until that fixation dies. (If it dies)

Oooo- Bobiverse is next on my list ! I already have We Are Legion ed haha. (Need to buy a physical copy, but haven't been to the book store recently :sob: )

As for normal person book? Never heard of it, though I usually go for whimsical, fantasy, sci-fi sort of stuff lol.
