Minjoon Subunit Concept:

I’m a huge fan of the black and white/angel and demon concepts, because I love the duality of them. The view can be complex, or simple. The concept for their subunit would be challenging people’s ways of assuming about things they don’t understand. “It’s not so simple as black and white.”

Minjoon Subunit Song:

The song would go by the name: “World’s Apart,” but could also be known as “Black or White.” I would imagine the pre-chorus and majority of the song to be sung by Jimin, while the chorus was rapped by Namjoon. The name meaning lies behind the concept—the simplicity of black and white. The lyrics describe how people are more than they appear, and you can’t stereotype them.

I really love the sound of electronic and classical music mixed together, and I also think it’s a great mash up of Jimin and Namjoon’s different styles. Namjoon’s isn’t really electro, but some of his music does have an upbeat tune like that.

Just like the rest of the concepts, I would imagine the music video to have a black and white aesthetic. The mv would be an artsy concept music video. What is a concept music video? “This type of music video, rather than featuring the band performing the song, is presented as a visual narrative.” (pmwiki) Jimin and Namjoon will only be together for the mv during the pre-chorus and chorus, and they’ll be doing the choreography during that. The rest will be them alone, providing artistic visuals.

For the choreography, I would imagine a mix of Hoseok’s “Boy Meets Evil,” and Jimin’s “Lie.” The electro/hip-hop type of Hoseok’s dance would flow nicely with the classical type of Jimin’s dance. It would fit in well with Jimin and Namjoon, as well as the song, being half powerful/half gentle.

Surprise, surprise. The theme is black and white! Namjoon/Jimin’s outfits would be a mix of black and white, with their black outfits being more complex, and their white outfits being more simple. This can fit in with the duality of black and white.

I was going to have Jimin’s hair as white, but I liked the idea of an angelic blonde. He just...so cute.Namjoon, of course, would have black hair. (bighit bring black-haired namjoon back)

World’s Apart

coming 12/31/19

I really wanted to portray the duality of black and white with the teaser photos, and liked to show both sides of “angel and demon,” by having two photos portraying them as both. As for the teaser date, 12/31 when was “Promise” came out. Namjoon helped write it~
