I miss you — it’s strange,

Strange, because I never had you.

Yet I ache to hold you,

Even in dreams,

I missed you there too.

To brush your hair behind your ear,

To calm your fears as you sleep —

For a moment,

I was in heaven,

Because you were near.

Now I cry to the silence,

To the empty in my arms,

Whispering, "I miss you..."

But missing you —

It’s not enough.

I want you here.

To rock you gently into dreams,

To hum your worries away.

But if I close my eyes,

I might wake up.

So I stay awake,

To hold you in this quiet now,

To fix your clothes as you sleep,

To laugh at your sleepy grumbling.

It’s an ache—

An itch I can’t reach.

I miss you.

I want you.

I need you…

Please.

Six days?

An eternal, rabid nightmare of pain.

Six goddamn days.

I need you...

So much.
