For The Scared Sick Witch

A common and sensitive subject that’s near and dear to my heart is witches who suffer from illnesses which make daily life and religion harder for them than others. This issue can severely hinder people’s confidence in their own powers and even can make people doubt and leave the faith if they aren’t given the proper guidance or signs. So with this post I want to talk about common issues I’ve noticed or experience that can make a lot of us give up. Starting by a very unique issue that isn’t insanely common but I’ve read more than 3 witches who were lost due to this symptom.

APHANTASIA: the inability to create images in your minds eye. A lot of magic relies on imagery and imagining things. People with this are just as creative, they just aren’t able to see like we can. These are tips to help with imagery magic for those with this issue.

- stop reading about and worrying ing your mind! The gods aren’t ableist. They will not be mad and say no because you can’t do a step.

-Tarot magic. Learn the meanings of the traditional 78 tarot and when ever doing a spell, grab a card that resembles what you need. And don’t worry. There’s literally something for everything, I’ve studied tarot!!

-print! Printing pictures is cheaper than you think, and most of us have a local library or office like shop where you can print or laminate. If you’re doing a special spell that calls for very unique imagery EX: Necromancers initiation that calls for role playing out your death and imagining and scrying the scene. It calls for a gate, pillars and lightning in a unique position. You could either make a collage, draw it out or find a piece of art with all featured items that speaks to you.

-physical objects. If a spell asks for you to to imagine a door or gate, instead hold and look at and focus on a key. If a spell asks for you to imagine yourself in a forest, focus on a piece of NATIVE flora or even a branch you found locally. If it calls for the ocean, hold shells or salt crystals. If it calls for a lake, a goblet/chalice of water or bowl will work. Not to mention the scents and textures make it more intimate.

LIMITED MOBILITY OR AGORAPHOBIA:

If you are physically or mentally unable to go outside being a witch can really feel like you’re faking and a lot of worry about not being to forage, go outside on sabbaths, access sacred landmarks or nature ect.

-Find friends with similar issues! You can share tips and suggestions and supplies. As an agoraphobic myself accessing good herbs and candles takes a lot of online research and trust, so I recommend herbal and metaphysical shops with affordable and fast arriving options and also suggest affordable local choices for those of us well enough to leave the house to grab some things such as using glitter and bulk white tea lights for cheap color candles (sprinkle glitter on it then light the wax with a lighter for like 1-3 seconds all around to stick the glitter to it) and cheap herbs (in the international section of grocery stores there’s small handful of herbs in plastic baggies for no more than a dollar or so a piece)

-Making magical water: if trying to make moon or sun water and you’re unable to go outside to find somewhere direct, put a stone and or tarot card with the energies you need next to or on top of it while it’s placed on a window. Or if you’re lucky like me you can ask your twin flame to put it outside for you and then grab it later, but I’m writing this so most options can be done alone.

-foraging: accept that foraging is the privilege that only the able bodied who live with local nature can afford. I can only harvest herbs I need no more than 2 times a year, as I’m agoraphobic and need a really good day to go, and I have to pay to go to a botanical garden where I have to “sneak” small Muslin bags. Instead just look at beginner plants you can grow indoors or somewhere accessible or just accept that you have to stick with purchasing! I am growing a few herbs on my porch but my issues do effect my garden and I’ve lost plants from not being able to go outside enough...

-bonfires: candles or small cauldron fires on porches!

ANXIETY, DEPRESSION AND PARANOIA:

A large part of being a witch is understanding and working with energies to summon and cast what we please. People with anxiety, paranoia and depression usually have negative residual energy in our bodies, and unlike some ableist new age salespeople: I know we can’t control these energies as much as we wish. I have cast successful spells while still feeling like there was a serpent constricting and poisoning me: you take away the power of That energy by stating what it is.

-if you suddenly feel intense negative emotions when trying to do spell work or readings, say outloud:

“I am sick. This energy is from disease. Not from me.”

This forces energy separation by you reminding the energy who’s in control here. Having negative residual energy will not cause your spells to backfire. This is a silly and ableist idea. So those who have emotional issues shouldn’t cast and work with energy? Nonsense.

-if you feel intense emotions more than usual when not doing sacred work, ask yourself:

•Am I taking my meds?

•Is there a new situation that could be giving me more stress?

•Am I taking new meds or drugs? (Caffiene and alcohol are drugs)

•Dissect the issues that have happened. Is there logical explanations?

If you answered yes to any of these, address it! If you said no to all, do a cleansing. If you do a cleaning and stuff still feels bad, talk to your health care people!

These are the most common issues that a lot of people will claim make the craft hard or dangerous for them. Just : gods are not ableist. Having to buy your herbs doesn’t taint their energy. Having to make your mixtures inside doesn’t taint energy. Being sick doesn’t taint your energy. Just do what YOU CAN! Merry Casting!

God this, there's no amount of thinking positive that gets rid of these, sure stuff can aid, but nothing will get rid of it without professional help. And even then there's falling back, the residual feelings, the worry you'll regress to the worst it was...

This is a fantastic post ! Bless you for having the spoons to write so much helpful info for others

Thank you! I live with TSD, depression and severe anxiety to the point I’ve become mostly agoraphobic. Yet my faith is very active and comforting. We just have to talk to fellow spoonies to share tips. I have very successful readings and very successful spell work. And I constantly feel like crap :joy: I’m really glad to help!
