This is more an opinion piece, but it does touch on relevant topics so I am still linking my Spirit Work Wiki. However, I will not put the post link in the Wiki as I did with the others.

This is not meant to shame anyone or come off as rules.

So to the point...

I don't think one should be bringing spirits into a space that isn't theirs. Especially if they know the owners of said space are against it.

My mom never really gave me express rules when it came to witchcraft. She mentioned things that I shouldn't do but she never straight up told me I wasn't allowed to do something. (Usually favouring the roundabout moral argument and fear mongering)

Except for one thing, I wasn't to summon spirits in her home.

This wasn't because my mom disliked spirits, we even have a regular in the home to this day.

It was because if I messed up it could affect everyone in the house.

I could bring in a whole multitude of negative things in and even non-negative spirit activity could cause fear in the other of my house. Especially my little sister.

This is entirely reasonable.

It is reasonable for the owners of a house to ask you not to do something that could have repercussions on them and the other inhabitants. This links back to consent when it comes to witchcraft.

In Relation to Closet Witches

~ You can go to them. Astral travel and trance work allows one to connect to spirits without bringing them to you. ~

~ You can do your summoning outside your home. I did so for years while I lived at my moms. ~

~ Scrying doesn't bring the spirit into your space either so it is a good form of divination for people to get into. There is also a billion different ways to scry and so it has the most readily available tools. Perfect for witches on a budget. ~

~ Try working with what is already there. Many places have spirits already in the area. ~

~ WAIT. It will not kill you. Just because you want to do something now doesn't mean you should. ~

My mum hasn't even notice my spirit familiar that lives with us and the others that I accidently summoned but still love and the ones that already lived, I mean, they are fun

Edit: she knows about my great grandmother lives with us, but she doesn't have any problem, she doesn't even care

Edit: oh and her dad... What? He was already there with my great grandmother...

BRAVO !

It's just plain common sense, and decent courteousness, not to attract entities into someone else' home or space.

Refusing to honor that, is thoughtless, inconsiderate, discourteous, disrespectful, and downright rude.

People uncaringly persistent in doing so: Are selfish, uncaring, discourteous, untrustworthy, and dangerous.

I think that, . . . those will the types of spirits they will attract into their own circles.

I'm not someone who shares the belief that spirits are this dangerous, but this was interesting to think about nonetheless, especially since I am in the broom closet and starting with spirit work. (It's more religious and less something purely witchy for me though.)

Even if they are not dangerous* regular, not negative, spirit activity still can negatively affect the other of a household. It can cause fear and paranoia which some consider to be harmful.

*my personal view of "dangerous" is potential to cause physical harm, but some include emotional and mental harm. All of which spirits have been known to be able to cause. I believe that if spirits would be called "dangerous" then it would be more in the energetic or mental sense. I dislike saying that they are dangerous though, more that they CAN be dangerous. But so can a dog or another human. Calling them outright dangerous is just a bit fear monger-y to me.

Totally understandable, and I agree. My mom is literally afraid of even cameras being in the house and ticking off the wrong ghost- I'm disabled and probably never getting the chance to move out so even though I'm an adult I would NEVER conjure something into her home. Further, someone once messaged me on here about how to get rid of spirits their own mom had conjured in their home because these spirits were messing with them despite being friendly with their mom. Some people don't need the consequences of someone else's actions.
